Behind the Scenes: Concert of Excellence 2004: Idea & Concept
Every year, the masterminds at Second Generation rack their brains to create a concert that is bigger and better than the years before. Every year, they succeed. The Concert of Excellence continues to grow and evolve so that each year, audiences are touched by the 2G Magic!
Every year, audiences are dazzled by the amazing talent of the Asian American Broadway performers. They are awestruck by the accomplishments of esteemed honorees. CoE 2004 brings all that and more. This year, the focus is on creation: how artists begin with a blank canvas and transform it into an irreplaceable experience. The Concert of Excellence 2004 will include more than just Broadway performers singing their hearts out. You will be led on a journey into the lives of many different types of artists from the singer to the dancer to the painter.
This year's Concert of Excellence also includes the element of surprise. In fact, I have been told by Welly Yang, Artistic Director and Founder of Second Generation, that audience members will have an opportunity to take a piece of the performance home with them that evening. The trick is, you have to attend to find out just what that means. We'll see you there!
